Chennai, 5 August 2025 – FICCI FLO Chennai Chapter hosted an unforgettable afternoon at ITC Grand Chola with the formidable Captain Yashika Hatwal Tyagi, Kargil War Veteran, military leadership coach, and national icon. Under the passionate leadership of Chairperson Niyati A. Mehta, the event brought together over 300 women for a deeply stirring conversation on courage, clarity, and the journey of becoming.
Captain Yashika Tyagi, a woman of many firsts, shared her lived truths with raw honesty, from being one of the first female officers posted to Kargil during Operation Vijay while in her second trimester, to transforming her battlefield learnings into lessons in resilience for civilians and corporates alike.
“I joined the army not to be treated special, but to be treated equal,” she affirmed. “Respect is earned through your work, your decisions, by being present where the action is.” Her powerful words found resonance across the room, urging women to step into leadership by owning their space, knowing their craft, and never letting self-doubt sabotage their potential.
With humour and honesty, Captain Tyagi recounted a pivotal moment in her military training:
“When I feared water during a test, my Ustad told me, ‘Stop crying, you’ve fought the world to get here. You won’t let the fear of water defeat you now.’ That moment changed me.”
She left the audience with a life-changing reminder:
“Grass isn’t greener on the other side. It’s greener where you water it. Focus builds growth.”
As founder of the popular YouTube series ‘Shaurya Tales’, now elevated to a global platform with Republic TV, Captain Tyagi continues to spotlight stories of bravery and human spirit, proving that true leadership is not just taught but lived.
A Military-Inspired Leadership Coach, Captain Yashika now conducts transformational workshops and keynote sessions across India and globally, helping professionals in the corporate world cultivate a ‘Warrior Mindset’-a blend of clarity, confidence, and courage rooted in discipline and purpose.
Chairperson Niyati A. Mehta said, “This year, our theme SPARKLE -an acronym for Strength, Passion, Ambition, Resilience, Knowledge, Leadership, and Excellence, reminds us that every woman has the right to shine, lead, and drive change. Captain Yashika’s story beautifully embodies these values.”
With over 1260 members and a 32-year legacy, FLO Chennai remains a powerhouse of women-led impact. The chapter’s ongoing efforts span across sustainability, digital literacy, skill development, and STEM outreach, including the setup of crèche facilities in SIPCOT industrial parks in partnership with the Tamil Nadu Government.
