Chennai, 6th Feb 2023: The 21st Annual Day began with a lot of gandeur. Most Rev. Bro. John Kallarackal our Superior General from Rome was the Chief Guest, Rev. Bro. Dr. Irudhyam, Provincial Superior of Trichy, Rev. Bro George Padikara Provincial Superior of Bengaluru and Mrs Geraldine Britto our retiring staff were the Guests of Honour.
The Guard of Honour welcomed the Guests and were taken to the auditorium with full honours by the NCC Cadets and school band along with Rev. Bro. Stephen Xavier the Principal & Correspondent and Rev. Bro. Sebastian the Vice Principal.
The program began with a welcome address followed by the Lighting of the Lamp by the guests. The Welcome cum prayer dance was performed by the student which made the audience feel the presence of God among the august gathering.
Rev. Bro Stephen Xavier the Principal formally welcomed and thanked the guests, parents , Staff and students who were involved in the plan, preparation and success of the program. He proudly announced that around 900 students participated in the event and more than 100 students received awards.
The Guests were introduced and felicitated, Mrs Britto our retiring staff was felicitated for her 14 years of Selfless Service at Montfort, followed by Prize distribution for all the General Proficiency Awardees, Board Exam toppers in 2021 – 2022 along with the State Qualifiers in Sports and National level prize winners in Drawing. David Baker our Class 10 student has won the Golden Book Award for Best Young Adult Fantasy for his Novel ‘Chronicles of Cantata – Divided’. The Best Outgoing Student of 2022 – 2023 was bagged by Merlin Carol of Std 12 C and the Overall Championship Trophy was won by the Gabriel House.
A detailed Annual Report of this academic year was presented by the students. The Cultural Program was a variety show with Dance, Singing, Drama, Oration and Instrumental. The Chief Guest, the Guests of Honour, all other guests and parents were highly impressed and congratulated the Principal, Vice Principal, Staff & Students for their meticulous planning and preparation and excellent performance.
The day was indeed a remarkable one and yet another milestone in the history of Montfort, St Thomas Mount.
