South Zone Inter University Basketball (Women) Tournament 2019-2020. Organized by the University of Madras, Hosted by SRM Arts and Science College
South Zone Inter University Basketball (Women) Tournament 2019-2020 was held at SRM Sports Complex, SRM Arts and Science College, Kattankulathur from 15th to 19th December 2019. Organized by the University of Madras under the auspices of association of Indian Universities, Around 850 Players of 70 top Universities’ teams from South India participated in the Tournament. Dr. T.P.Ganesan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology inaugurated the Tournament on 15th December.
The Five days-Grand-Basketball Tournament was a treat for the Sports enthusiasts and the players. Out of the 70 Universities’ Basketball Teams, top 4 teams qualified for the final round from which Hindustan University, Chennai emerged the Winner and University of Madras, Chennai won the Runner-up Trophy of the Tournament.
SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur secured the third place and Jain University, Bengaluru secured the fourth place. The Valedictory Function of the tournament was held on 19th December 2019 at 5p.m at Dr.T.P. Ganesan Mini Auditorium, SRM Arts and Science College Campus. Mr.D. Kannan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Chengalpet District was the Chief Guest who advised the Students to inculcate Sports and Physical exercises for the longer and healthier Life which teach the people not only the requisite life skills but also great opportunity to get employment.
Dr. R. Vasudevaraj, Principal gave the welcomed address and Dr. K. Subburam, Director, SRMASC delivered the Presidential Address. Dr.K.R.Venkatesan, Member Syndicate, University of Madras and Dr. V. Mahadevan, Director of Physical Education, University of Madras felicitated the function.
