Chennai, 18th June 2026: Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC), one of India’s leading institutions in engineering and technology education, today inaugurated its pioneering REC Off Campus @ RMZ Millenia, Perungudi, Chennai, a first-of-its-kind Industry-Led and Industry-Immersed Engineering Campus designed to redefine the future of engineering education.
Located within RMZ Millenia Business Park, one of Chennai’s premier commercial and technology hubs on the OMR IT Corridor, the new campus has been established on Levels 6 and 7 of Tower 5 and offers a unique learning ecosystem where students pursue their engineering education amidst multinational corporations, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), technology companies, startups, and innovation-driven enterprises.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Ashok Krish, Vice President and Global Head of AI Practice, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Dr. (Mrs.) Thangam Meganathan, Chairperson, Rajalakshmi Institutions, and held in the presence of Mr. Abhay Meganathan, Vice Chairman, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, and Mrs. Tejashree Abhay Meganathan, Executive Director, Rajalakshmi Engineering College.
REC Off Campus @ RMZ Millenia has been conceptualised as an “Engineering Excellence Campus” that integrates academics, industry immersion, innovation, and workplace experiences under one ecosystem. The campus will initially offer undergraduate engineering programmes in four future-focused disciplines:
- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
- Information Technology (IT)
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AIDS)
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML)
The campus has been designed to accommodate approximately 360 students and seeks to provide an entirely new model of engineering education where learning extends beyond traditional classrooms into an industry-integrated environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ashok Krish highlighted the growing need for industry-ready graduates who can adapt to the rapidly evolving world of Artificial Intelligence, data-driven technologies, and global innovation ecosystems. He commended Rajalakshmi Engineering College for envisioning a transformative model that bridges the gap between academia and industry and prepares students for the future of work.
Addressing the gathering, the leadership of Rajalakshmi Engineering College emphasised that REC Off Campus @ RMZ Millenia is not merely a new academic block, but a strategic initiative aimed at redefining engineering education by embedding students within a live corporate and technology ecosystem from the first year of their academic journey.

“India’s Semiconductor Mission: Synergizing Industry, Academia, and Government for Building an Indigenous Semiconductor Ecosystem”
featuring thought leaders from NIT Delhi, Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, Tessolve Semiconductor, and Unisvision Systems/Selenean Technologies.
The panel discussions deliberated on the future of Artificial Intelligence, talent development, semiconductor innovation, industry-academia collaboration, and the growing importance of creating future-ready engineering talent capable of contributing to India’s technological advancement.
An Exclusive Press & Media Interaction Session was also organised during the event, where members of the media interacted with the institution’s leadership and the Chief Guest, followed by a guided tour of the newly established campus.
