G20 Social Summit Dr. Nandini Azad, representing the International Civil Society, President of Working Women’s Forum (India)/ Indian Cooperative Network for Women spoke at the inaugural of the G20 Social Summit, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is the first International Civil Society and cooperative representative to be given the honour.Seen on the podium are the other speakers Brazilian Foreign Minister, the First Lady of Brazil Madam Jaja Lula (wife of Brazilian H.E. President Hon’ble Mr.Lulla) Minister for President’s office, Minister for Culture, Minister for Women, Mayor of Rio de Janeiro at the inaugural ceremony of G20 Social Summit in Brazil 14th November 2024.
Dr. Nandini Azad, President of the Working Women’s Forum (India) and the Indian Cooperative Network for Women, delivered the address on behalf of International Civil Society at the inaugural ceremony of the G20 Social Summit on November 14, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is the first and only International Civil Society and cooperative representative to be given the honour.
Sharing the stage were prominent leaders, including Brazilian First Lady Madam Jaja Lula, Brazil’s Foreign Minister, and officials from Brazil’s Ministry of Culture, Brazilian Women Minister and the President’s office, alongside the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro.
Dr Azad highlighted the success stories of the Indian grassroots cooperative movement in general and that of the Working Women’s Forum and the Indian Cooperative Network for Women in particular.
She congratulated the G-20 presidency for pioneering the social summit for the first time in the history of G-20 process. Proclaiming that “Governance must include people”. Dr.Azad remarks with very well appreciated with thunderous applause.
