The Family Planning Association of India Chennai Branch organized Training for Government officials, Partner NGOs and staff service providers on Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in crisis situations plays a crucial role in preventing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in crisis situations through several key strategies:

1. Access to Services: MISP ensures that essential sexual and reproductive health services are accessible in emergencies, helping to meet the needs of vulnerable populations, including women and girls.

2. Awareness and Education: By providing information about SRHR, the MISP empowers individuals to understand their rights, recognize violence, and seek help, thereby fostering a culture of consent and respect.

3. Support Systems: The package includes referral pathways for survivors of violence, ensuring they receive medical care, psychological support, and legal assistance, which is vital in crisis settings.

4. Community Engagement: MISP emphasizes community involvement, encouraging dialogue about SGBV, which can help to change attitudes and reduce stigma around seeking help.

5. Integration of Services: By integrating SRHR services with other emergency response measures, MISP ensures a holistic approach, addressing the multifaceted needs of individuals affected by crises.

6. Training and Capacity Building: The initiative trains healthcare providers and community workers on recognizing and responding to SGBV, enhancing the overall responsiveness of the health system in crises.

Through these strategies, the MISP training for Government officials and partner organisation and staff service provider helps mitigate the risk of SGBV, promotes survivors’ rights, and fosters a safer environment for all individuals in crisis situations.
