Chennai, 28th August 2019: Inner Wheel Club of Madras North (Dist 323) conducted Rubella Awareness at SDNB colllege for Women at Chrompet. Inner Wheel is an international women’s organisation to create friendship, service and understanding.
Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth” by making this quote even meaningful, the Department of Journalism and Communication in SDNB Vaishnav College for Women, Chromepet, join hands with the Inner Wheel Club of Madras North to inaugurate the Community Enrichment Club and its PR campaign on Awareness on Rubella Vaccination.
Mrs. Suchitra Venkatesh, President of Inner Wheel Club of Madras North helped and coordinated with the department to organize the program. Dr. Kavitha Arunagiri M.B.B.S., Deputy Director, Specialist in Virology from Kings Institute of Preventive Medicine with Mrs. Nalini Prabhakar PDC, Member of Inner Wheel Club and Ms. Naasira, Special Project Coordinator of Inner Wheel Club, graced the occasion.
The chief guests and the staff from the Department of Journalism and Communication brightened the program by lighting the lamp. Mrs. Suchitra Venkatesh inaugurated the Community Enrichment Club and as a part of the club activity, the Department decided to conduct a PR health campaign on the Awareness of Rubella Vaccination, for that Dr. Kavitha Arunagiri gave a brief overview about the virus, symptoms, side effects and the precautions of the Rubella disease.
As a second activity of the community enrichment club, the department provided a platform for the school children to exhibit their talents. The students from kathivakkam government school performed a villu paatu on the topic ‘child abuse’.
Following that, Master. Kamala Kannan gave a mesmerizing speech about the uses of trees. The chief guests were awestruck and gifted cash prizes to the children who performed on the stage.
The school students presented the saplings to the Chief guests as a token of love and to encourage afforestation. Mrs. Suchithra Venkatesh and Ms. Naasira offered a memento to the chief guest Dr. Kavitha Arunagiri, Mrs. Nalini Prabhakar and the Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication Mrs. Aruna. To encourage community participation, the Department decided to honour the community member Mrs. T. Susila by presenting Thirukkural book and by acknowledged her knowledge.
The chief guests also presented certificates for the star performers of the Journalism Department and club badges for the Members of Press Club. President Suchitra spoke on the importance of Service. She told” Service not only provide you a satisfaction in helping others, but also to improve your personal growth and well being. you will be able to identify your strength and weakness and develop leadersship, communication skills, which will enable can you to be a excellent taskmaster.”
