Apollo Hospitals leads the fight against Covid 19 with over 100,000 vaccinated

National, March 11, 2021: In a significant milestone as the nation embarks on the massive task of vaccinating the people of India, the Apollo Hospitals group is proud to be one of the first medical institutions to complete vaccinating over 100,000 people against COVID-19 since the time vaccination campaign was started by GOI. In the current phase the COVID vaccines are being administered at more than sixty Apollo vaccination centres across the country as per the Government guidelines to those eligible over the age of 60, those over 45 years of age with co-morbidities. All the centres reported an enthusiastic response from the senior citizens who appreciated the positive helpful attitude of the staff and the well-planned arrangements that contributed to a smooth process of vaccination.

Ms. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group said, “The COVID vaccination program is critical for bringing the COVID pandemic to an end. We are proud to have achieved an important milestone today of administering the COVID vaccine to over 100,000 people that include our vulnerable senior citizens. A robust vaccination program is the need of the hour, and we are glad for this opportunity to support and boost the Government’s efforts in ensuring that no eligible person is left out of the COVID vaccine program. The vaccination program for those most vulnerable amongst us comes at a crucial time when many states are reporting a rise in cases after a period of lull. Ensuring that everyone is able to get easily vaccinated as the program expands to other age groups is of critical importance in the battle against COVID-19. At Apollo Hospitals, we are fully geared up to administer up to 1 million COVID vaccines a day to support the Government in achieving its target of administering 500 million vaccines by July 2021.”

The COVID vaccination program across the centres follows the recommended Government protocols with identity checks before administration of the vaccine shots, validation of data in Co-WIN app, observation for 30 minutes post vaccination, and AEFI (adverse effects following immunization) management if any. There is a proper maintenance of the cold chain for vaccine storage, and biomedical waste management. The vaccination process follows infection control practices including screening of all beneficiaries for fever, physical distancing, hand hygiene, universal masking, and safe injection practices.

The smooth rollout of the vaccination program across the Apollo Hospitals group is the culmination of months of preparation that included readying the infrastructure, training programs for staff, dry runs, and coordination with the government. This has enabled an efficient and smooth rollout at the vaccination centres with trained healthcare personnel administering the vaccines with the highest safety standards. As the COVID vaccine program continues to expand and cover more people, Apollo Hospitals is ready to play an integral role in ensuring its success.

The Apollo 24|7 app is also easing the process of vaccination registration and communication. It hosts a dedicated platform for all the information related to the COVID-19 vaccine and guides users on the process, as well as keeping them abreast with the latest update around vaccine development.

At Apollo Hospitals group, the COVID vaccine is being administered at 60 locations across the country including Apollo Hospitals, Apollo Spectra hospitals and Apollo Clinics. Those eligible for the vaccines as per Government guidelines can register on the Co-WIN site https://selfregistration.cowin.gov.in/. At present, people aged above 60 years and those above 45 years of age with comorbidities are eligible to receive the vaccine. People can also go to a COVID vaccination centre and get themselves registered. They can also call the Co-WIN helpline at 1507.
