The 21st Graduation Day of SRM Valliammai Engineering College was held on 28th June, 2026, at the prestigious Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium. The event commemorated the culmination of an enriching four-year educational experience and celebrated the graduates as they embarked on a new chapter in their professional endeavours.
The ceremony commenced with the wishes and blessings of Dr. Ravi Pachamoothoo, Chairman of the SRM Group, and Ms. R. Harini, Correspondent of SRMVEC. Dr.B,Visalakshi,Vice Principal of SRMVEC welcomed the gatherings, Dr. M. Murugan, Principal of SRMVEC delivered the College Report and Dr. R. Venkatesh Babu, Director (Academics & Administration), SRM Group presided and graced the event.
The highlight of the event was the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. S. R. Ramanan, Eminent Meteorologist and Former Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, Chennai, who conferred degrees upon 729 graduates. Among them, 48 outstanding rank holders were honoured with medals and certificates for their academic excellence.
In his keynote address, Dr.Ramanan underscored the evolving role of engineers in today’s dynamic technological landscape, emphasizing the importance of practical knowledge and its real-world applications. Addressing the graduands, the speaker emphasized that Graduation Day is a moment to express gratitude to parents for their unwavering support and to the alma mater for its guidance and nurturing throughout their academic journey. The graduates were encouraged to define success not merely by salary packages or professional titles, but by the positive impact they create in society.
Highlighting emerging career opportunities, the speaker noted the growing demand for expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Software Development, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics, Healthcare, Animation, Multimedia, Hospitality, Event Management, Fashion Design, and Interior Design. Students were urged to pursue careers aligned with their interests and strengths rather than following prevailing trends.
