Chennai: FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council organised the most relevant TANCARE Summit 2025 on the theme Leapfrogging TN Healthcare:Leveraging Talent, Technology Outcomes for Global Healthcare Leadership, for the benefit of healthcare leaders and experts across the spectrum in Chennai on Thursday with several thought leaders sharing their views on the most vital issue taking health care to the benefit of people.
Mr A Arun Thamburaj, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Government of Tami Nadu, in his valedictory address on Advancing Public Health Systems and Digital Transformation : Scalable Models for Equitable and Outcome Driven Healthcare in Tamil Nadu, spoke at length on the issue of government collaborating with private stakeholders in matters relating to cancer detection and treatment in the form of vaccination and make Tamil Nadu a cervical cancer free state within a timeframe.
The top official also said that they have an idea to collaborate with IIT Madras on the use of AI technology for diagnosis and treatment of various diseases along with industries on products and equipment used in the healthcare system.
He was appreciative of state government in giving funds to the tune of 80 percent and several cancer care centres are functioning for providing high end treatment and urged the government to come up with ideas on digital healthcare on hiims cancer centres in 16 districts.
Mr G S K Velu, Chairman, FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council, in his welcome address, said that healthcare is becoming capacity based to outcome based and noted that data has taken centre stage for making decisions from diagnosis to treatment, now with the help of AI technology–human skills along with robotics surgery.
With tech enabled health care, Tami Nadu is set to become a global destination for healthcare and the current summit has brought all healthcare leaders under one roof for exchange of ideas on various topics.
He further said that the national health mission is a great initiative as medical education in the new age of healthcare can become so personalised on clinical trials.
Mr Venkat Subramaniyam, Founder and Director, Veda Corporate Advisors, said he is proud to be a part of this event, adding, “I am in the world of finance, private equity. And in today’s world, if there is one sector that is creating waves in the world of private equity, it is healthcare. Everyday newspapers carry about news on a healthcare chain raising capital.”
So, the amount of deal activity that we are seeing in healthcare today is incomparable. And I think the key question in the minds of everyone is how long will this last and what is the next one or two years going to look like?
Investors find this sector extremely exciting because it enables them to get the right mix of growth, profitability, return on capital employed and stability of earnings.
The trends of the past may not necessarily exactly be the same. What we will see in multi specialties, we will see more consolidation as the private equity game is more or less over, he remarked.
With the make in India theme is medical equipment, devices and consumables, where does that leave Tamil Nadu in the whole scheme of things, he asked.
Summing up, 2026 will continue to be a great year for healthcare investments in India. The strengths will continue. There will be marginal shifts here and there, he concluded.
Dr Praveen Raj, Convenor, FICCI Tamil Nadu Healthcare Panel, outlined the need to get the best ecosystem by creating a proper momentum on that count along with investments. He expressed confidence that Tami Nadu will emerge a leader in healthcare and surpass other states.
