Chennai, December 20, 2025: The Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons, the Hockey India League (HIL) franchise representing Tamil Nadu, was officially launched today at The Accord Metropolitan, T. Nagar, Chennai, in the presence of distinguished guests and members of the print, television, and digital media.
The launch event marked a significant milestone for professional hockey in the state and featured the official owner introduction, the unveiling of the team’s logo, and the reveal of the official playing jersey, setting the tone for an exciting Hockey India League season.
The franchise is owned by Dr. Swetha Sundeep Anand, Owner – Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons, and Managing Director, Bharath University, whose leadership brings together a strong legacy of education, healthcare, and community
development. For over a decade, the Accord and Bharath Groups have focused on institution building with a social mission, having provided free education to over 6,000 meritorious students and extended quality healthcare to economically weaker sections through multiple initiatives.
The event was graced by Dr. Sundeep Aanand J, Chairman – Asian Hockey Federation Strategy & Planning Advisory Committee, Managing Director, Accord Group of Companies; Mr. Sekar J. Manoharan, Treasurer, Hockey India and President, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu; Mr. Vickram Kanth, Assistant Coach, Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons; Mr. Joseph, Chief Executive Officer, Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons; and Mr. Amit Rohidas, Captain, Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons.
Inspired by the overwhelming response to the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup held in Tamil Nadu, the franchise ownership aims to provide global exposure to talented players from the state through participation in the Hockey India League.
The initiative is also aligned with longterm development goals, including the establishment of a hockey academy under Bharath University and capacity-building programmes for coaches and physical directors across Tamil Nadu.
The squad, a balanced mix of experienced internationals and emerging young talent, is set to compete strongly in the upcoming season.
The Hockey India League represents one of the highest levels of professional club hockey, bringing together world-class talent, passion, and global standards on a single platform. The franchise has called upon fans, media, and the sporting community to support the team throughout the Hockey India League, as the Dragons take the field representing the pride and spirit of Tamil Nadu
