Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School, Chetpet, witnessed a remarkable celebration of global diplomacy, leadership and international cooperation through its Model G7 – Group of Seven Nations programme.
Under the visionary leadership of our respected Headmaster and Correspondent, and his innovative initiative, what began as a simple idea blossomed into a meaningful and memorable international diplomatic simulation. His vision gave students an extraordinary opportunity to step beyond the boundaries of classroom learning and experience the responsibilities of global leadership.
The programme centred on the contemporary global theme “War and El Niño”, bringing together student delegates representing the seven G7 member nations. Assuming the significant roles of Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers of External Affairs, the students engaged in diplomatic discussions, deliberations and debates on pressing international concerns.
The participation of guest delegations representing India, China, Ukraine, the European Union, Iran, Israel and Russia added depth and diversity to the discussions, enabling students to explore different perspectives on global conflicts, climate challenges and international relations.
More than an academic activity, Model G7 became a platform for experiential learning. It nurtured critical thinking, leadership, public speaking, negotiation, teamwork and decision-making skills. The students were encouraged to think beyond national boundaries and understand that global challenges demand collective responsibility and cooperation.
Behind this successful initiative stood the tireless efforts of the organising team, the dedicated guidance of teachers and the committed training of the student delegates. Their collective contribution transformed the vision into a vibrant and meaningful educational experience.
The programme carried a powerful message through its motto:
“STRONGER TOGETHER FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.”
It reminded everyone that peace, mutual understanding, environmental responsibility and international cooperation are essential for building a better world.
The Model G7 programme was not merely an event but an educational milestone — a journey from ideas to action, from learners to leaders, and from classrooms to the global stage.
Indeed, today’s delegates are tomorrow’s diplomats, decision-makers and responsible global citizens.
