Export Inspection Agency (EIA), Under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (Govt. of India), Chennai Celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga, Driving Government of India’s Wellness Initiatives.

CHENNAI, 21ST JUNE 2026: In a vibrant demonstration of the Government of India’s nationwide commitment to holistic health and wellness, the Export Inspection Agency (EIA) – Chennai organized a comprehensive Yoga session at its office premises today to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY 2026).

The program was formally inaugurated by Shri. Jayapalan G, Deputy Director & Agency In-charge. In his inaugural address, Shri. Jayapalan G emphasized how the agency’s celebration directly aligns with the Ministry of Ayush’s national directives to propagate yoga as a daily lifestyle practice. He highlighted that integrating yoga into the professional sphere is vital for enhancing workplace productivity, mitigating stress, and building a resilient, healthy workforce.

Demonstrating immense solidarity and spirit, around 50 participants—comprising permanent office executives, technical staff, and contractual employees—enthusiastically performed the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP).

The session was led by a certified Yoga Instructor, who delivered an impactful address on the structural importance of yoga. The instructor detailed how daily practice serves as a preventive healthcare tool, urging all employees to move beyond symbolic celebrations and commit to yoga as an essential daily habit to combat sedentary lifestyle challenges.

Highlighting the agency’s continuous commitment to capacity building, it was noted that EIA employees are also actively participating in dedicated yoga and wellness courses on the iGOT Karmayogi platform to integrate these benefits into their daily routines.

The celebration concluded with a mass pledge by the employees of EIA Chennai to internalize yoga practices, contributing actively to the Government’s vision of a healthier, fit, and more productive nation.
