Dakshinam – first In-house hand-woven saree unveiled by PADMASHRI Aruna Sairam

The city got to witness the beauty that is the Kanjivaram saree in an exclusive event at Dakshinam

The gorgeous saree embellished with zari was unveiled in the presence of Padmashri Aruna Sairam, the traditional spectacle of unveiling Dakshinam Chennai’s in-house hand-woven saree left people with a lingering sense of awe.

Chennai’s fashionistas and saree aficionados gathered for a conversation over coffee and took part in an experience like never before. The kanjivaram saree spoke of the intricate craftsmanship that goes into this wonderful creation. Added to this, they were enthralled by the amazing impromptu rendition of Maadu Meikum Kanne by Padmashri Aruna Sairam – something worth ticking off one’s bucket list. Padmashri Aruna Sairam also engaged in conversation with the in-house weaver and the director of Dakshinam Sarees – Yogesh Jhamtani.

The sheer elegance that the saree represented was one to be reckoned with and everyone present took home the thought that this nuanced art form has now been brought right to their doorstep.
